Everything happens instantly, with no waiting and no manual switching.

3. Actuators, the hands of your home

Actuators are the executing devices that carry out the controller's commands. These include electric motors for roller shutters and blinds, lighting regulators (dimmers), valves for heating and water, electronic locks, sirens and alarms, and relays for switching devices on and off. In our projects, we use actuators and control modules from renowned European manufacturers such as Zennio, Ekinex, Gira, Vimar, and Schneider Electric, each of which brings specific advantages depending on the requirements of the individual project.

Communication protocols: the language of the smart home

For all devices to communicate, they need a common "language," a communication protocol. There are several dominant protocols on the market, and choosing the right one has a significant impact on the functionality, reliability, and long-term value of your system.

KNX, the European standard for professional installations

KNX (Konnex) is the oldest and most widespread European protocol for building automation. It was created in 1997 by unifying three earlier standards, and today it is recognized as both a European standard (EN 50090) and an international standard (ISO/IEC 14543-3). In our projects, we use KNX-compatible devices from leading manufacturers, Gira, Schneider Electric, Zennio, Ekinex, Vimar, and Eelectron, which gives us tremendous flexibility in selecting equipment for each individual project.

The advantages of KNX are its exceptional reliability and stability, an enormous selection of compatible devices from more than 500 manufacturers, complete independence from any single supplier, which makes it ideal for long-term investments, and support for both wired and wireless communication. The main drawback is the higher initial cost compared with newer wireless protocols, along with the need for a certified installer, but it is precisely that need for expertise that guarantees quality workmanship.

What Can a Smart Home Do?

Lighting control

Smart lighting goes far beyond simply turning lights on and off. In the systems we design, we use dimmer modules and control panels from manufacturers such as Zennio, Ekinex, Gira, and Vimar that make it possible to define lighting scenes for various situations, from energizing morning light that helps you wake up, to focused task lighting, to a warm evening ambiance for relaxation.

The system automatically adjusts the intensity and color temperature depending on the time of day, and as you leave the house, a single touch turns off all the lights. Motion and presence sensors ensure that lights come on only in rooms where someone is present, which significantly reduces energy consumption. Our clients regularly report savings on electricity of between 10 and 20 percent from smart lighting control alone.

Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC)

Climate control is one of the most valuable aspects of a smart home because it directly affects energy bills. Security and video surveillance

All of this happens automatically, in seconds, whether you are at home or on the other side of the world.

Multimedia and audio systems

We work with top audio brands, Bose, Bowers & Wilkins, Triad Audio, Episode, Cabasse, Marantz, and Denon, which allows us to select, for each project, equipment that perfectly matches the acoustics of the space, the aesthetic requirements, and the budget.

A multiroom audio system makes it possible to distribute music throughout the entire home, so you can listen to jazz in the kitchen while the children listen to their own music in their room, or synchronize the music across the whole home for a house party. When you select a movie in the living room, the Control4 system automatically adjusts the atmosphere, dimming the lighting through the Gira or Vimar switches, lowering the motorized curtains, and switching the Marantz or Denon AV receiver to the optimal settings.

Roller shutters, blinds, and awnings

Motorized roller shutters and blinds adjust automatically according to the position of the sun, the strength of the wind, or your preferences. In Rijeka and along the coast, where summers are extremely hot, this functionality has particular practical value. The system recognizes which side the sun is hitting the windows from and automatically lowers the shading, which reduces heat gain in the space and the need for air conditioning. In winter, the shutters are raised so that the sun's warmth naturally heats the rooms, lowering heating costs.

Energy management

A smart home continuously optimizes energy consumption. The system can monitor the consumption of each device in real time, automatically switch off devices in standby, manage the charging of an electric vehicle according to more favorable tariffs, and coordinate the operation of solar panels, batteries, and the home grid for maximum energy efficiency.

The foundation of everything: a reliable network infrastructure

Something that is rarely discussed, yet absolutely essential to a successful smart home, is the network infrastructure. Every device in a smart home, from a sensor to a speaker, depends on a stable and fast network. Poor Wi-Fi means slower responses, system crashes, and general frustration.
